George Wickens Nominated For PFA Player of the Month Award

City goalkeeper George Wickens has been shortlisted for the PFA League One Fans’ Player of the Month award for September.

Wickens delivered a string of standout performances during a month that kept Imps supporters on the edge of their seats. I fully expect another nomination to follow soon — this time for Michael Skubala as Manager of the Month — though we’ll have to wait and see.

In September, Wickens recorded two clean sheets, against Peterborough and Burton, and produced key saves in the other fixtures versus Luton and Wigan. He made four crucial stops in the Wigan match, helping secure a 2-2 draw — the only League One game we didn’t win.
